He is a PPR Pro, holds a 5.0+ DUPR rating, and won gold with Ben Hansbrough in Champions Division men's doubles (skill 5.0, age 8 to 34) at the 2024 Lapiplasty Pickleball World Championships. He also coaches the UTD Pickleball Club.
DiP's bio says Tanner has had a passion for coaching since he was 15. He's a Coppell High School grad who played college football at the University of Central Oklahoma, and he's done Olympic lifting, downhill skiing, CrossFit and disc golf, but pickleball is the one that stuck.
Before DiP, Tanner coached in Oklahoma. He helped start the Oklahoma Pickleball Club, ran DUPR rating nights, taught weekly clinics and private lessons at The Greens Country Club in Oklahoma City, and co-led clinics elsewhere in the state, including Bartlesville in 2023.
At DiP he teaches private and group lessons, has coached kids over spring break, and coached a six-week Saturday program for Buddy Up for Life athletes. He's a JOOLA sponsored coach and a LUQI Grips sponsored athlete.

Free pickleball tips
One tip from a Wednesday drill class, one from his Instagram, and a few short videos from his YouTube channel.
When your opponent's paddle goes up, yours goes down. The higher their paddle is at contact, the more exposed your feet are. When they reach down low, bring your paddle up to protect your chest, because a low contact point can't target your feet.
Effortless power comes from the snap: a loose grip that goes tight at contact. Swinging hard wastes energy and requires precise timing. Less swing, more snap, more winners and fewer errors.

PPR is the Professional Pickleball Registry, one of USA Pickleball's official education and certification partners. Its Level 1 certification has three ratings: Associate Coach, Coach and Pro. Pro is the top Level 1 rating. It requires strokes at a 4.5 level or higher and an exceptional score on PPR's teaching test, and PPR says about 15% of members reach Pro on their first attempt. Tanner is listed as an active PPR Professional in PPR's registry.

Only the very top of the pro game reaches 7.0: in October 2026 just two men were rated above 7.0 in doubles, and most top-10 pros sat between 6.4 and 6.9.
